Hello all .

My EHEIM 2213 has suddenly developed a fualt .

The flow from the outlet tube in the tank is PATHETIC .

I have cleaned the impellor , checked the media for stuff ( gunk eyc , but I only renewed that 3 weeks ago ) .

I have checked that when it is all connected and I put my finger over the inlet pipe in the tank , there is suction .

When I put the pump head in a bucket of water , it pumps out fine , when I stick the assebly ( green housing media etc ) in the bucket it fills up fine . when I put the whole lot in the bucket , it pumps water out but at a reduced rate .

I THINK either there is a blockage in the pipe work from the pump OUTLET to the tank OUTLET ( unlikely as it LOOKS fine and only 2 kinks which are clear )

OR

The pump itself is clogged / worn out and not operaing at its usefull output !

has anyone heard of the pumps just " Slowing down " I would have thought it would just pack up !!!
PLEASE reply .

Sorry about spelling mistakes , I am REALLY panicking

No one ?

Managed to miss this post, given the time you posted it must have disappeared pretty early.

No idea's but free bump from me.

Might want to post this thread in the d.i.y. section of the forum aswell.

You mention two kinks...There is your problem ;) When you kink a hose pipe, you loose flow. Same with filter hose  If a hose has to go around a sharp band, use ridged pipe, or you will loose lots of flow. In most cases, kinks form due to excess hose, so try trimming them down a bit to remove the kinks. Failing that, run a long brush (Trumpet brushes are what I use, but there are specialist filter hose cleaning bruses available) through the hose to try and remove any algea or other debris that could be blocking the pipework. Don't forget to check the inlet side also, as any blockages there the pump has to pull against, thus loosing you flow  . Blockages in the inlet pipe IME are more common, as dirt and debris has not been removed from the water by filter media in the inlet pipes, where it has in the outlet ones :good:

Agree with rabbut, get rid of kinks and i run eheims on all my tanks and its surprizing how quick the tubes get gunged up especially if you have a planted tank. i use a smaller tube normally airline tube and thread it through the tubes to clean them, also check the spray bar holes are cleaned and in and outlet section where you screw on the pipes.
If all else fails try raising the height of the filter slightly if it is underneath your tank and reducing tubes to the minimum they need to reach.
