Eheim 2126 Problem

I have been running my eheim 2126 for 3 weeks or so now and I keep getting what appear to be air bubbles being blasted out of the spraybar. It doesn't do it all of the time, just seems to build up to a point where it chucks the air out. As there seemed to be some scum on the surface I thought perhaps it was the fact that i hadn't cleaned the media thoroughly enough-that may well have been the case, because a rewash washed out plenty of fine dust, but it still seems to be happening to a lesser extent, yet i can't see how any air can possibly be getting into the system-all connections are fine. The rubber seal on the filter lid seems OK, no kinks or anything, unless it's missing totally, but then i'd suspect it wpuld leak!
Does it just need a bit of time to expel the air from the new media?

Replying to my own post-there was a bit missing! The connection from the pump head to the filter baskets is missing. I don't think it was even in the box. I have ordered a spare part, so it will be sorted. I didn't notice it, 'cos I don't think that there was an equivalent bit in my old eheim.
