Morning all.

I need some help as I got an eheim 2073 to replace my internal filters and am trying to set it up for the first time.

I have all the tubes attached firmly with the pump well within the 1.8m of the tank. The intake pipe is deep in the tank and spray bar is at the surface, about 8cm below the top of the tank. The filter media is rinsed and in place and appears to sit well with the lid back on.

Now I try to manually pump the primer it gets a trickle that makes it over the u bend with vigorous pumping and no more! Have I missed something. People talk of issues with pricing these but the reason I got this one was it's "easy start" function!

Help appreciated.

Current filters staying for a month at least but keen to get it running.

sounds like trapped air to me either run it for a while to let the filter push the air out (make sure the filter is filled to the brim with water) or gentley rock the filter side to side to aid releasing of the air

another thing will sounds silly but people sometimes forget to make sure the taps are fully open

Benn there. Done that. So make sure thats not your problem. I've burnt out two pumps motors by doing this!

Thanks both.

It was the initial manual pump to fill the filter. Finally did it with less vigour and more timing! All running well now.
