Eheim 2028 Owners Please Help

hi, i own an eheim 2028 but i need to put some new filter floss in it,

what i need to know is can i just push the lever up and take the pipe assembly off and then unclip the top of the filter or will it leak? do i need to take pipes out of tank?

I just turn the power off and then pull the lever up (back)

Dont forget to squeeze in the little red button on the right as you pull the level toward you

i am not sure if the way i do is "text" book, but always done it that way, and it never needs re-priming after, as long as you fill the cannister with water (about 1" below top i think i do)

once you pull that lever forward, it closes the pipes your end, so no need to worry about nwater gushing everywhere

I agree fry_lover is telling you the right thing.

I've also read in this forum that after you restart a cannister filter it can help to gently hold and tilt it to different angles to allow trapped air to more easily escape to the output tubes. Also, some even suggest gentle shaking while doing this to further help the process.

Let us know how it went (much spilled water?)

thanks, it didnt go to bad but after restarting the filter it wouldnt work, i took it apart only to notice the magnet on the impeller was cracked in half.
