Eheim 2026/2126

I have had problems with my Eheim 2126 since I bought it 3 months ago. I get a constant build up of air in the system. It's constantly spewing out air bubbles, and at one point there was so much air in the filter that the impeller was actually running in air! On removing the head, the entire head seemed to be full of water and a couple of pints drained out instead of the usual dribble. My LFS has had a look at it and can see no obvious problem-nor can I, but the fact remains that I am getting an awful amount of air in the filter.

The filter media is not blocked-there are no leaks in the pipes, there is no obvious source of air. I suspect that the priming system may be at fault but can't quite see how-Any ideas?

do you drain all the water out of the tubes when getting ready to prime it?...i had air in mines to..i had to completely pull out the intake tube from the water to drain that line then prime it to get all the air out..

It seems to have been a faulty head. I bought a 2026 and used the head off of it-seems to work fine. An expensive lesson.
