I have 3 beautiful female Bettas; a blue/green/red rainbow, a golden
brown (orange fins) and a bright pink with dark red fins. Two of the Bettas are very heavy with eggs and the third is plumping up. I am not planning to breed them - should I do anything to relieve them?

The golden brown is very egg heavy and prefers floating nose-up at the surface. I occasionally put her in a clear breeding box so other fish don't stress her too much. I'd rather not leave her in the box because all she'll do is just float there.

The pink/red is also egg heavy, but a little more active. When resting, she settles behind a rock or inside a plant. The other fish don't bother her as much as they do Brown-Betty. The rainbow is normally active.

Will they eventually drop their eggs and be fine, and how long might this take?... Is there anything I can do to help them along - or should I just leave them alone? Are there medical issues I should be on th e lookout for?

50G tank with a spry and happy community;
1 clown loach
2 small yo-yo loaches
1 dojo loach
2 mollies
1 gold gorami
2 small cats (panda and julii)
3 female Bettas.

81 F, 50% water change every 1-2 weeks. Chemistry is good even if dissolved mineral contenet is a little high (hard).
Any comments or suggestions :)
Thanks,
Kibbles

I believe they will eventually drop then eat the eggs, rarely they will become egg bound, but as I said, that is rarely. When you consider very few captive female Bettas actually get bred and most do just fine, so I wouldn't worry about yours.

Try to make her excited it'll get the eggs outta her and the other fish will have a nutritious meal :D

Yes, let's get her zooming back and fourth, have her hit the sides of the glass and get the eggs to come out!
