Hello. I can't find, despite visiting several big DIY stores, some egg crate to protect the bottom of my tank from rocks' sharp edges or accidently dropping rocks when putting them in etc.
Is there an alternative? I was think of using some thin perpsex that I had left over from glazing a small shed window, just laying the sheet on the inside of the tank and then laying sand over the top. Is this ok?

Cheers Bloo. Guess i'll just have to order it and wait. Was just chomping at the bit to fill it but if it's worth doing well........

It might be worth trying a commercial electrics place, or even look in yellow pages for lighting specialists, they might sell you some.

Go on E-bay and search for pond filter grid. It`s about half the price of eggcrate and just as good.I`m using it on the bottom of my malawi tank to support 120kg of boulders.

Good tip but alas too late for me as I'd already ordered some eggcrate.

Out of interest - is polypropene the same as abs? does this matter?
