OK guys, I'm pretty sure my female is eggbound. I just gave her a 20 minute Epsom salt bath, no eggs dropped. I think I'm going to let her sit in her regular tank for about an hour, and then try another bath. If nothing happens, I'm gonna need some advice. What should I do? Thanks.

I heard you could fast them for a while or something....... ask wuv to make sure you know how stupid i am ;)

I say fast her too, that's your best bet. My orange girl has been getting a bit on the eggbound side, She looked miserable and exhausted. So for the last 3-4 days I didn't offer her food at feeding time, and she didn't come looking for it. This morning I was kneeling down near her tank and glanced up at her and there she was....dancing and begging as happy as can be,she looked a lot thinner too.

Alright, I haven't fed her tonight, so I will hold off on that too. How about water changes? Should I do any during this period? Also, should I put her in the Epsom QT tank?

Epsom is really just for constipation as far as I'm aware. i don't think that will make her spill her eggs -_- Did you read that somewhere?
Still do normal water changes :)

Yeah, I read that Epsom will loosen her up and eggs may drop. Julie confirmed.

I suppose it's worth a shot. But don't leave her in it too long. I would give her an epsom bath...then put her back in her tank. Then do a partial change to remove any residue.

That's what I did. I have a QT tank setup with Epsom. I put her in there for 20 minutes, and now she has been in her tank for an hour. Should I try again now or wait?

Well, let's keep in mind that she JUST got there yesterday after a long trip, then spent a night with you at work....just give her a break man

Alright, that is true. I'm going to start fasting her, because I have a strong feeling they were fed before they were shipped. Many many many poops in the small bags, and the male was a bit round.. :/ Thanks for the advice though.

!! My female, sparkles, has a belly that is about ready to burst it looks like. i was just about to post a thread asking about it, but sence this one is already up and running do you mind if i ask it here?

My sister has been trying to breed Sparkles for the past month or so, no luck. her belly has gotten bigger and bigger and it's really starting to scare me. i don't care about breeding her, i just want her healthy. I moved her back to my comunity tank yesterday when my sister decided to try another male instead of her Marley. Should i fast all the girls in that tank or just seperate her entirely? If she drops her eggs she won't be able to mate right away, correct? I don't really care, except that i bought my sister a $10 panda cory as payment for taking care of Sparkles while she was breeding her.

I'm so glad to hear that there is an alternative for her egg problem, all the violence and fin shredding of mating is just too nerve racking for this betta mum.
