so i went home this weekend and on my way back to school, i stopped off to look at fish :nerd: anyways, the LFS had all these itty-bitty cory cats and i just had to get them. so i bought 6 bronze corys and 3 pandas -- all about 1 inch long.

well about 30 minutes down the road it hit me that the tank i'm running now is 2 feet deep or about 24 times their body length. i'm guessing that this is a very bad thing seeing how corys need to gulp a little air every so often.

so:

(1) am i right and this is a problem? then i guess i could just restart my 5 gallon until they get a bit bigger.

(2) or am i right but its not a huge problem? could i just add two or three more airstones to increase aeration and "elevators" to the surface?

any advice from anyone would be appreciated; i'd like to resolve the quandry in the next few hours otherwise, i'm going to assume case #1 and go to a lot of trouble... :/ not that i don't deserve it for impulse purchasing...

They should be fine, I would however put in a couple of airstones (actually, 1 good one should do the trick) to make sure there's enough oxygen in the tank ... it will at least lower the amount of times they'll go up :)

Dont worry about it too much though.

yeah, well dumb*** me almost forgot about a quarantine period, so they'll just live in a bucket with an airstone and elderly filter material for a bit.

should i add methylene blue or melafix, or would that result in too much a build-up of ammonia (since both are anti-bacterials and would ruin the n-cycle)?
