Eel Id

No it doesn't appear to be a Fire eel,
Looks more like one of the smaller spiny eels, possibly Macrognathus aral.

the red dots down the side look like a fire eel but it looks extremely skinny and I once had 2 eels one who eat and thrived one that never eat and he ended up looking like that with washed out colours

Hi, i don't think it is a 'Macrognathus aral' at looking at the pics. It does seem like it could be a fire eel as i know they do have them orange spots and mine seems to have them to.
I know that it can be hard to feed them, and i have tried bloodworms and a wafer which he is not eating. I put the food right near his face and he sniffed it and didn't eat. However at the moment it is late so i will try tomorrow morning, but i have read that they love their earth worms so i am going to try getting some from the garden tomorrow and feed him it. Is it any worms like the pink ones you find that will be fine for him?
Also what other foods does he love which you can recommend me.
He is an active fish now and then, however i can't really just rely on him scavenging foods as there are 2 pictus bottom dweller's that i have they get a right belly on when they finish eating.

it may be a washed out fire eel, doesn't seem to look like ay of the other commonly available spiny eel species, you would have a better idea once it settles and eats a bit, they normally go for bloodworm, well mine loves it anyway, and prawns! just be patient, all spiny eels can be tempermental and its just patience, just try everyday with bloodworm, and when it settles and gets hungry it will more than likely start eating.
