hey guys
new to the forum, plan to be a long time member as well.

Just started a nano a couple of months ago. Numerous soft corals in it and a couple small fish. However I need more light. The tank came with a 9w 7" bulb built into the hood. I have since changed it out for the 50/50 blue white bulb but it is still not enough, since 9w isnt enough light for the rocks and the soft corals.

I have been searching for days for a retrofit kit that will fit on the inside of my light hood. Most of the retrofit kits that are out there do not include a cover for the bulbs which is bad. I am looking for a minimum of 18watts preferably in the 36watt range. I am desperate for ideas, and location to buy the hardware, as I plan to keep the existing light hood because of its clean look.
thanks

Eclipse tanks are notoriously difficult to retrofit light fixtures. Most people avoid them as nano tanks because of this and heat issues. I'll see what I can find out for you. SH

hey man thanks for such a fast reply.

I like those links, very badass. As for the first mod, the two 64watt bulbs in the hood... I noticed that he didnt have any covers over those light bulbs. I can see that to be a problem because salt spray will come up and get on the bulb and fixtures. I can find retrofits, but I cant find a cover for the bulbs.

Is 32watts good to go for growth,(will a 32w bulb in the hood cause heat issues?) after all, I see you guys running 64 and 96watts respectively.
thanks
TIM

I have 72 over a 24 without a heat issue.32 over a 12 is going to be very low light but, better than what you have now. SH
