Ecco Problems

I have a Eheim Ecco 2236 which I am currently cycling. I have had it for a couple of weeks now & it has been fine.

This morning it has started making a very loud humming vibrating noise. I took the impeller out & gave it a quick clean but it has made no difference. Apparantly this is a design problem with air getting trapped abouve the impeller. I have no problem getting another filter but can I use the media from this one in the new one as I dont want to undo all my hard work?

As long as you can work out a way to fit the old media into a new filter, you won't lose the cycle that you have established. I would be more interested getting the existing filter working. The Eheim product line has a very good reputation in most places and I assume that it is not all hype. With that in mind, I would be seeking advice from the Eheim fans about how to recover use of your existing filter rather than charge out and buy a new filter. A filter can be a major investment and giving up on it too easily will ultimately end up being a real drain on your funds.
