does this seem too good to be true? or is it missing some key things?

i've love to get marines and this seems like it could be a bargain. i'll admit now that i don't know much about marines but i am darn keen to find out and would potentially see this as a stepping stone (it's just a shame it involves fish!)

decided that a days worth of research was edging onto the small side :p

doesn't look too bad a price though. one day bennett, one day

blimey someone got a bargain at £103!

Ben

I would tend to agree! Alone, the tank and equipment would be worth that much here. Ive contemplated driving interstate 12hrs+ one way to buy bargain tanks. (Common sense has prevailed, twice ) :look: I will one day though. You just watch.....

Just goes to show that there's absolutly no secondhand value to tanks anymore which is good news if you trust a secondhand tank for a reef (I personally wouldn't unless I could be sure of the history). There seems to be a lot of people jumping on the SW band-wagon at the moment in the UK, and not in the good way. People are buying cheap tanks and equipment, cheap uncured live rock and selling it as a complete system because they know that it will fetch more money that way .... I know of a couple of people who've fallen for it and regretted it.

You just need to be careful what you're buying when looking at secondhand tanks as there's a few dodgy ones out there.

just thought i'd check up on the colourful exciting fish in here and people replied! mixed reactions...i've gotta say i was sceptical of it. i saw it with 24 hours to go at £51 and thought it must be a good deal. but then i realised i have a newly planted tank and that's going to be my baby for a while anyways.

however i went to crews hill, just north of london, initially to go and have a look around wildwoods and we stumbled across effectively the same shop five times (same stock, prices, etc) but then we found homes marines....

i now long for marine. i think i will start planning it not so that when i have infinite amounts of money (or several credit cards) i will assualt this area!

has anyone else been to this shop btw? awesome 200g+ tank. apparently voted best marine shop in 2004.

ive been looking on ebay for ages thinking about buying a complete set up but ive been warned away from it by the fact you never quite know what may be in the equipment.

much better to do your own set up stage by stage so you know exactly whats in your tank because you have put it in yourself if you shop around you'll be amazed what money you can get knocked off by having complete setups from your local retailers.

ive spent months going around my local shops seeing which ones answer your questions who offer advice without trying to sell you anything and most importantly who show a genuine intrest in their fish i've now got two i trust and know i can call on them anytime for help.

from one i have brought all my equipment and because ive got to know him got almost £150 knocked off the total price. the other shop because its closer to me is going do my RO water for my changes and ive got a good deal on live rock, test kits etc and is showing me stage by stage how to get my tank up and running.

i think the above is worth the extra money you might have to pay against a complete set up off ebay

The only time i've ever bought a setup off eBay was when I saw one with tank and live rock for a ridiculous price. I went to see the tank and bought it all for £50 (the live rock alone was worth in excess of £300!), it was being sold by the guys parents and they had no idea of its value  Got it all home, took out the live rock and smashed the tank up and took it down the skip (it was quite battered and scratched).
