Ok. My betta eats flakes, he seems to love them. Odd yes, but i think thats what petsmart fed him. He isnt picky.

Now, he gets fed every day, and is probably closer to overfed more than anything.

Yet despite this I see him sitting in the sand trying to eat off the bottom. Is he just a pig? I don't know if any of you have seen this but betta's bodies just arent made for eating this way. It's entertaining to watch, just making sure he's doing it because he's a pig and not that he's hungry. He isn't thin.

Not odd my betta's are given a very varied diet and will eat anything, flakes live veg whatever is available for them and the other fish they share the tank with, as for eating off the bottom I've never seen mine sit on the bottom eating but they will happily scavenge on the bottom of the tank for whatever has fallen down especially if there are worms about. :hey:

My bettas will eat from the bottom now and then. Also today, I watched my betta fry eating microworms from the bottom of their tank.

My blue betta eats anything. He also attacks the flakes and tears them to bits. Then swims off all aggresively. He does like those betta pellets though.
