Eating Bloodworms

Never noticed this before til the other day but when they eat bloodworms it comes out of their gills??? Is this normal?

My Peppered Cory does that as well when eating bloodworms, i don't know if it is normal but it does not seem to bother them.

Sometimes mine hoover it up so fast it goes all the way through so they have to hunt around for it again, that's if they're quick enough before another fish gets to it first. Haven't noticed it with other fish though.
