Eating Algae

Will/do pleco's and oto's eat algae of plastic/silk plants or do they leave well alone preferring real plants ???

I know it is not a plant, but my Otto's ate it from a plastic temple which I used to have in my tank so I dont think that them being plastic will affect anything.
