I bet if your tank is good, then some red cherry shrimp will breed in a few weeks after you purchase them. I'd start out with maybe 8 or 10 or so to guarantee you get both genders so they can breed. I got 5, but they were all females . And they were $6.00 each, so I couldn't buy anymore.

Cherry shrimp are probably the easiest to breed but even for them a week or two is probably not gonna happen unless you buy berried females.
