easy question about filters

i was wondering if havin two filters in a 30 gallon tank would kill off any benficial bacteria? or would you benefit from two filters?

You benefit from having more than one filter, it gives your fish more oxygen which is always good . Also, in case one brakes down, you have a back up running. I personally feel its better to have two filters running, unless your dealing with canisters and cant afford more than one right now liek me ) But back to the point, yes i would run two.

the filters were expensive and the gph is good but i already had 1 filter then got another for free

Well from what im hearing its sounds liek you should be fine running both, thats what i would do.
