Ok, so I'm having a little difficulty getting a the liner in my above ground "pond." It's just a big rectangle box basically, 4x1.5x1.5'. I have about 50 sq. feet of 20 mil. thick liner. The problem I'm having is, when I try to lay the tarp in there, it's hard to get it to stay in the corners, and also it creates little folds in the tarp along the walls. Anyone have some tips for fixing this?

You will get some creases, but get in the pond as your filling it and try to ease the liner into the corners and get the creases out.Thats the way we did ours

find the middle of your liner and center it over the middle of the pond

best way i know of is to weigh down the edges and as you fill the pond allow a little slack at a time as the liner sinks

as cat says you will end up with folds but this cant be helped but most of them should be in the corners if you know how to fold the liner (hospital corner) you tuck in the extra behind forming a big triangle ,the weight of the water will keep it flat

its frustrating i know lol  but as long as you take your time itl sort itself as it settles

only thing you have to be carefull about is tearing the liner on the corners of the retaining wall

dont know what im laughing at ive got a 10x5x4 to line next week

:/ Maybe I'm doing this wrong.... I centered the liner on the box, stood inside the box and spread it out to fill all the corners.... but the edges still look really shabby... how does that hospital corner thing work? I tried folding the folds in under to make a triangle... but then that pulled liner out from the corners of the box...

haha, gotcha.

Filled it up with some water, liner in there, and it's basically filling itself out. I'll show y'all some pics here in a bit. :D

Ok folks here it is.

I apologize for the mess.... and the lazy kitty.

It's not much, only about 50 gallons. But that's enough to house a couple common goldies.

bit late now, but at work i was called out to give 1 of our aquascapers a hand fitting a liner into a raised pond.

what he did was work all of the slack from each side into the corner and produced 1 big fold in each corner.

it's best to do it with 2 people on large scale, 1 guy inside and 1 guy out to help the liner along.

you also make the folds urm fold all in the same direction so the water flow doesn't pull it up, so you should have the folds pointing away from the flow.
