Ali, our 14 year old afghan hound (as shown in sig) is dying. She's just too old... we may have to put her down. :-( :-( :-( :byebye: Just thought I'd let you guys share in my sorrow.

EDIT: Oops. Wrong section. I'm so distraught I can't think straight.

Thanks it really sucks. We've had her for so long and now she can barely breathe. All she does is lie on the bed and whimper softly. :-(

So sorry to hear your friend is passing on. I have lost several dogs in my life. it does not get easier but having them in our lives is worth the eventual pain.
My Pippin and I will be thinking of you.

Thanks but she's actually looking a bit better. She was whining all last night like she was in pain but now she has some of her strength back and we took her for a walk. :D

It always tough to give up someone you've grown up with and grown old together with. I think you know in your heart what’s best to do. Make sure you last times with your are memorable and spoil her rotten, letting anyone go is a lot easier on both of you when you have time and memories to cherish. My best wishes to you and your family

I'm sorry to hear about her. As a1 said, try to spend as much time with her as you can now. It may be hard, but you might regret not spending all the time you could with her. Once again, I'm sorry to hear about her. :-(

i feel for you :-(
my guinea pig is dying
he's my baby
and he is trained and has the temperment off a very friendly little dog :byebye: :byebye: :byebye:
this is the worst part of pet owning :-( :-( :-(

My beautiful little lurcher x girl, Bessie, died last year in May. She had a stroke, and the confusion in her eyes was heartbreaking. She had to be put down, and that really did break our hearts, but it does get easier. I still can't look at any pictures of her without getting upset, and I still look for her where she used to be.

High fives to you David for giving Ali 14 wonderful years. It's amazing how long our beloved friends can last when given lots of love and care. You'll know when it's the right time to have her gently euthanized/put to sleep. She'll tell you when she's not enjoying life anymore. So sorry you're about to lose her, she sounds like a wonderful member of your family.

Hi David :)

I was wondering how Ali was doing. Do you have a picture of her?
