i have posted this in swimmbladder problems but really need answers so have posted it seperatly.
my Black moor was having trouble swimming the other day and i suspected swim bladder he was just swimming at the top of the tank. today i have woken up and he is lying on his side at the bottomof the tank i know he's not dead as he occasionaly moves. i can tell he is really suffering as earlier got stuck in a silk plant.
I have fasted him for two days now and he is in a quaritine tank with medicated water but he seems to be getting worse not better.
All water parameters are fine and other fish in the tank is perfectly healthy
think it would be fairer to put him out of misery but does anyone know how to do this without causing him any more suffering.
I know he is suffering at the moment and dont feel i can put him through it anymore i wouldn't like to be left to die slowly. its not fair on the poor little guy to put him through this. :-( :-(
i know it sound cruel to want to euthanise my poor fishie but i dont want him to suffer as nothing sems to be working!!!
Help :shout:

Only you can make the decision to put him to sleep and by far the best method is using clove oil for those of us too squeamish to use blunt force.

You can buy a small bottle from any chemist and its used for toothaches.

In a lidded tub pour a little water from your tank and add 50 drops of the oil. You need to put the lid on and give it a really good shake as it needs to mix, its should go a milky colour.
Now in a bucket add some more tank water just to cover the fish and place him in it.

Add the mix to the water and cover the bucket.

Go and look again in 10 minutes and he should have stopped breathing. If he is still breathing add a few more drops to the water and do this every 10 minutes. When you think he has gone, just leave him a bit longer just to make sure.
Some people then add 40% vodka just to make sure the fish is dead, but thats up to you.

You will have to dispose of him responsibly so dont put down the toilet.

Thankyou really dont want to do it but its best for him dont want him to suffer i have always hated seeing animals die painfully.
am far to sqeamish to use force on him and dont want to do it wrong.
that sounds like the most painfree way for him to go will go to the chemist in a few minutes.
I thought he had recovered once i had sorted the filter out but he obviously hadn't!!
will get it sorted asap. sorry to everyone who thinks it is a cruel thing to do but you have to think of the fish. :-( :-(
