i have a 55 gallon and id like to make a stand for it rather than spend all the money to buy one. its supposed to end up as a betta sorority so its not gona need a filter, in other words it doesnt have to be a cabinet. it doesnt have to be too tall either. im just worried about getting it to be strong enough to hold all that weight. im sure i could just go buy some big thick wooden support posts like for supporting a deck or fence and cut it down to size but it seems like there is a better design than that. anyone got any plans that theyv used?

For quickness and simlicity how about air bricks.

They are the size of breaze-blocks but are a fraction of the weight and are cheap. stack them flat-ways to the required hieght and top them off with a thick sheet of ply the size of your tanks footprint. For added security you should bond them with Grip-fill mastic.
