Things like this can work out, I recall either puffer freak or puffer punk had a puffer community made up of SAPs and DPs. However both the guy in the link and the above had the advantage of a number of tanks and enough media to instantly cycle them so that if any aggression occured they could be moved.

This is similar to the Minions keeping a bichir and a couple of plecs with Marth the Fahaka puffer (reknowned as the most psychotic of puffers). They have plenty of space to move them out if need be.

IIRC you only have one other tank to the one you are looking to stock, so I would avoid any potential disaster such as this. While it may work for a few weeks, even a few months, it only needs to not work for a minute and you've lost a lot of stock.

Think one male and one female red eye like in the picture would work out? Or can you have more than two? Even though all the puffers I have seen in fishstores are either fresh puffers, brackish or marine, im guessing anything other than freshwater dwarf puffers are hard to get hold of?

Depends on your LFS, mine has more brackish and marine puffers than FW, though they do have some (red eye and SAP).

Jon

p.s. I am in cambs so if you fancy a drive, I will tell you where.

i have been successful (so far, over 9ish months) in keeping a pair of red-eyes with dwarf puffers in a planted 25g. However i read on another forum that somebody else tried adding dp's to a tank with redeyes and the dp's didnt last the day so i guess a lot is down to luck and the individual fish temprament. tbh the only thing in that tank that i have trouble with is intraspecific aggression betwen the male and female red-eye - they have their own "territories" and are quick to chase each other out if they stray; but they dont pursue each other as such, just a quick snipe. the female has recieved one or two small bite wounds from the male before, but they are quick to heal. Both redeyes completely ignore the dwarfs though
