These are my 2 new DP's. They are in separate tanks until I am sure as of what genders they are as I plan to breed them when they are mature. One is in an 8 gallon on his/her own and the other is in a 6 gallon on his/her own.

This is a suspected female but is still too young to sex. It's also quite a shy DP and hardly comes out unless I'm sat at the tank. Very Camera shy.

This one is a suspected male as he has a very bright yellow belly. Very curious and loves his surroundings, always exploring and not quite as camera shy.

They are both just over 1cm long at the mo and eating Defrosted Lobster Eggs and Live Daphnia.

Hi.
The "suspect" male having a brighter yellow belly is not an acurate way of sexing.

The male should be darker in color, *usually* have a yellow underside, but most importantly, will have a dark (black) ventral line on the underside.

Here is a picture of my male (on the right) and female (They bred many times too!)

Another good way of sexing them, is look at the eyes. Males as they grow tend to have wrinkles around the eye:

I know having a yellow belly isn't the most accurate way of sexing them but they are really really young at the minute so it's all I've got to go on.

I have just bought loads of new plants for them and cleaned them both out.

8 Gallon.
