Hi all, I would love to get back into keeping these guys, I kept 2 in a 8 gallon about a year ago, and I had to give them away to a friend in order to get my new tank, now that I have downsized to a 54 litre, I can now keep these little beauties again :)

How many should I keep in there? I thought 4 or 5, it will be a heavily planted tank, It's currently cycled and ticking over.

I've been doing a little reading on them lately and from what I've seen 5 gallon for the first one and a minimum of 3 gallon for each additional but 5 gallon each is preferred. Over filtration is a must with minimum of 10x turnover. It seems they are quite messy.

With real dense planting, you could get a good 4-5 in, yes.

they really are great, i loved mine, but, make sure you have a tight-fitting lid as mine committed suicide.

Thanks, I'm gonna fill it with H.polysperma, Crypts and maybe a bit of P.helferi, just keeping it simples :)

Do you think the stock filter in the rekord will be ample? I don't see a problem, but just wanted a second opinion.

It's a toss up between DP's and multies :/

the filter should be ok, but, you will have to be really carful on feeding, making sure as much as poss is eaten.

the only problem with dp's, is that you cant have any tankmates, i found this troublesome when trying to maintain a planted tank.

I'd stick to 4 DPs and add a second filter to make sure the water is immaculate along with your 50% weekly water changes :D
They eat meaty foods and poop big sausages so you can't filter enough tbh :D
Planting wise, think underwater jungle and you'll crack it - along with caves for them to hide in and explore ;)

Cheers, Got another filter, I have a TTex700, which I can half the flow with anyway so it should be fine.

Got lots of rock, just need some more plants now,

Cheers

well my local maidenhead sells them right nest to the live food

dont know if youve got one near you

hehe how odd,i just remembered today i had one and dug it out,but the little bit of plastics broken that it holds to the sucker, otherwise id have sent it to you, with mine i use a pipette

nelly thats what super glue is for

Often see them on ebay but you should be able to find one in LFS.

I've used one before but it doesn't suit the super tiny live bloodworms that I get from LFS. The worms wriggle out too quickly and straight into the substrate. Like nelly, I use a pipette. It's more fun  You don't want to be overfeeding them really hehe..

 super glue, ive never used the thing, you know all those things you get when you buy second hand tanks, ive got them and pumps galore which i never use, just love second hand tanks..

Truck, just google worm cone feeder and you'll get lots of shopping links. Mine's an algarde one and I got it online :D
pipettes are good too.

I had my cone at the front of the tank so I got to watch the puffs eating. Now they're over 3 years old I feed by pipette as they have their own ares of the tank.
