How can you tell between male & female?

When they are mature enough (about 5 months old) the males will show wrinkles (iridescent crack lines) behind their eyes and sometimes on their forehead and bodies. You can just about see the wrinkles on the above juvie. Also, males often show a dark line on their under belly but it's not a sure characteristic of males though. The females are usually more round on the tummy.

Here's a pic of my oldest female

They will be going to LFS this weekend if there are no takers :(

Hi, I have a 2ft tank setup with no stock in it and have been looking for a dwarf puffer but no luck around my end. You're way to far to pickup but would you post? Thnks

Hi, I'm sorry but I won't be able to post. Do you have any Maidenhead Aquatics near you? They always seem to stock them or they might be able to order in for you :)

I will have to find out, are there any in or near South Yorkshire? There is a guy on ebay selling them and also posting £3.50 + £8.00 postage = £11.50 altogether. Do you reckon that would be a good price? There is a big place called viscum near me and they have had them in before thats what they said but never seen them before. I could try them again :good: How much did you buy your dwarf puffer for?

There is a list of their stores around the country. Have a look

Make sure you check the seller's feedback on livestock items thoroughly. By that postage price, I guess the guy is posting them by royal mail. Not so sure how he would pack them so personally I wouldn't risk it. There are a few reputable online stores that sell them but obviously the P&P is going to be expensive for proper packaging and overnight delivery. Trimar, Wholesale Tropicals and Wildwoods are some of them.

There is quite a wide range of prices on these little puffs. I've seen prices ranging from £1.50 - £9.00 each. I paid £5 for my trio over 4 ½ years ago but now they are £1.50 each or 4 for £5 in my local Maidenhead Aquatics and £8.95 in Wildwoods  which is two minutes down the road.

It's always better to pick your own DP. A lot of people end up with skinny DPs that die early on. IMO picking a healthy plump DP is important.

I will have to take mine to the shop today :-( Hope you find one locally :good:

Hi sorry for the late response and no problem i know its best not to post thats why i have avoided buying from the ebay member selling dp's even though people have said good things about posting fish including with the dp. However, i have asked my lfs and they might be able to get them in soon hopefully. Hope your dp does well wih its next permanent home.
