I recently bought 2 dwarf puffers from my local pet shop. I asked if they would be ok in a community tank (I am a bit of a novice) and was advised this would be fine. However, they seem to be constantly pestering the various different Corys that I have, some look as they they could have had their fins nipped.

Am I going to have to get rid of the Puffers or should they be alright in a community?

There are no community Puffer Fish. Id either take them back and speak to the shop advising them of their mistake or set-up a species tank. For their size Dwarf Puffers can be very aggressive

Agree with DarkEntity

If you look on the bottom of page (under similar topics) or do a search on Dwarf Puffers, there are quite a few previous threads on the same subject.

When I first bought my DPs (impulse buy, my bad  ), one of my dwarf corys got a nip out of it's dorsal fin and never recovered from it. They are now separated for obvious reasons

Dwarf puffers will sometimes be fine in a community when they are young however when they mature they usually become aggressive.
Dwarf puffers will even nip at each other if your tank isn't planted enough =/ thats what happened to me

Yep I made that mistake too. I got a little dwarf puffer from petsmart because it was so small and cute and he was pestering my other fish so now her and a friend have a 5 gallon to themselves.
