Hi

I know puffers need to have snails in their diet to wear their teeth down. I was just wondering if keeping apple snails in the tank would allow them to wear their teeth down without the snails being eaten or would they eat them anyway? I know apple snails are quite large and their shells are probably harder than the average pond snail and I wasn't sure if the puffers would be able to get into them to eat the snail inside.

I read somewhere (perhaps on here) about a DP getting trapped inside an apple snail shell. Seems they get right inside on the hunt for snaily goodness.

I think its safe to say any snail in with DPs or GSPs for that matter is toast! My GSPs can munch down on winkles... they dont neccesarily have to bite, they suck pretty good too :D

u should scroll back a few pages and read puffer packs post title is size doesnt matter or sometihng close to it

my DPs attacked my apple snails but never got more than a taste. On the first bite the snails closed up and only came out at night, when the puffers were sleeping. My apples lived for a few months (although it was probably a crappy life) before I gave up on them being food and moved them. You could see chunks that the puffers took out of the shells, though.

it might be a good idea to just go to ur LFS and ask for some snails. they'll give it to you for free. pj's gave me a lot of snails... they hate those lil slimeballs.

I heard about the puffers getting stuck in an apple snails shell to. Some one on here posted about it. I don't remember who

I looked it up it was posted a while ago by Kanile It is called Dwarf puffer + Apple snail disaster ! You might want to read it
