Hey guys
If you have been following the post in the emergency forum you may or may not know I lost Princess one of my little dwarf puffs last night after hours of trying to rescue her.

I now have a 14 gallon tank with 2 Dwarf Puffs in and a 5g tank with one Dwarf Puff in.

What are your thoughts and opinions on putting a divider on a third of the tank and moving main man into the tank (still by himself)? I am very soon getting 18 silk plants so can heavily plant up the tank further to help keep them all interested.

I will not be introducing him back in at all now as the other two are one male and one female. I have been considering getting more to add to the main tank (2 females) but a bit worried as these guys are pretty established with each other. Plus do not want a mix up of another male again as no where to rehome if this happened. But on the other hand worry that the two of them on their own may not get along.

Any tips, opinions, experiences really appreciated.

Going by past problems I'd leave the lone puffer where he is.

I guess you could try him back in with the others and move him back out if the same happens, but with him being a male then 2 males to one female will provoke nothing but problems eventually.

If you were going to add to the 14 gallon I'd just add one (5 gals per puff ratio) if you can guarantee it to be a female. I'd go about it by removing the two existing puffs into a jug and then have a brief move about, adding the new DP. Then when that is settled put the 2 old ones back in the newly scaped tank and they should all be fine :D

thanks Jennybugs, what do you think about the divider situation, having a third of the 14g to himself and the remaining two can have the rest?

thanks Bagu. I wouldnt dream of adding him without the divider. I am going to try over the weekend, if not least I tried.

Is it a see through divider?

If he can still be seen it will still cause issues I think. If it's something like a plain black divider that can't be looked through then I think it might work better :) Just remember that moving the fish about all the time will stress it out and if it's a bit tetchy already you don't want to upset it even more, hence me thinking it was best left where it is.

Ah right! I have not seen the selection of dividers yet and will see on saturday and go from there. If all clear we will leave it :)
