I had 2 dp's in a 10 gallon tank. One of them died a few weeks ago and I want to get another but I'm not sure if it will work. The new one will be smaller. Will the older one be territorial and aggressive to a new one? I'm thinking my best bet is to just leave him as the lone fish in the tank. What do you all think?

Rearrange the tank and make sure there are lots of plants and hiding places. Try not to get 2 males. They should be fine.

i disagree and suggest that the safest thing to do is just keep him on his own. dwarf puffers are territorial and antisocial anyways; he'll be happier just being king of the tank.

i agree with this 100%! you'll be much better off just letting him keep his throne to himself. if you want to get anothe rdp then i suggest getting a 5 gal and putting it in that.

I have to also agree with keeping the dp alone now....my Missy didn't take to well to her new tankmate even with rearranging and adding plants and hiding places, plus she was moved from a 5 gallon to a 10 gallon at the same time I got the new dp. I was waiting for her new home to cycle...and the same time it was ready, there were new dp's at the LFS. It turned out to be a bad idea and we lost Dip. Now Missy is happy alone with 3 ottos and a couple of ghost shrimp to watch.
