I have wanted to put dp's in my 55 gallon tank for a while, but I have shyed away from it. I now have a snail infestation and I was thinking I could get dp's and already have a food source. In a 55 gallon that has tetra's (about 10) and two discus, would dp's be okay or would they stress out the tetra's and the discuss. I have had them before in a small species only tank, but was wondering what everyone else's thoughts would be on this.

Personally the only things I would put DPs in with are other DP's and possibly otocinclus.

At some stage or another, the DPs will want to taste the other fish to see if they are edible or not. Discus aren't reknowned for being speedy fish as you know, so will be a sitting target for the puffers so I would say don't risk it.

Species only tanks are best for the majority of puffers imho. I have DP's in a 60L with a lone otocinclus and F8 puffers with bumblebee gobies but other than that and SAPs in with some other fish, I wouldn't risk it :D

its on the personality, but i think they would go and see what the fishes taste like ^^

you could take the risk; its up to you! :good:
