I recently got 2 dwarf puffers. In fact, today is only my third day having them. Wednesday when I brought them home I didn't try to feed them as I figured they either (1) were fed at the LFS or (2) wouldn't be interested in eating since they were in a new, unfamiliar place. Well, last night I tried to feed them some bloodworm, but I couldn't even get them to come to the top to check out the food. I placed some bloodworm in the filter current and it danced around forever in the water, but they wouldn't pay it any attention. I even sucked some up in a medicine dropper and shot it out in front of their face, but they just weren't interested. Do you think it's because they are still acclimating to their new home? Is there anything else I should try or just give it time?

Also, this may be perfectly normal behavior since they are both still juveniles, but they haven't left each other's side since I placed them in the tank. They follow each other every where. I haven't seen any aggression between the two YET. Has anyone else's DP's done this? Is this normal and now I'm just waiting for them to start ripping each other to shreds? :ninja:

do they look really skinny (like so much as you can see their bone structure? do they have sunken bellies? if both then they may have internal parasite (or similar) problems. Quite alot of DPs can have it in LFSs, mine developed it, got really skinny, then stopped eating and died.

I'm not saying yours definitely have this, DPs can be very shy when put into a new aquarium, im just making sure you check :good:

No, I wouldn't say that they have sunken bellies. One puffer is really round and about 3/4 of an inch. The other is a little smaller-probably 1/2 of an inch and not so fat. It doesn't appear to have a sunken belly though and I can't see it's bone structure.... I'll double check when I get home though. I'm hoping it's just a male and female that I have (to explain the difference in appearance).

they sound fine, it would be very noticable if there was a problem :good:

Ok,

Dwarf Puffers mouths are roughly the same size as their eyes, so take that into account when feeding. I only feed my Puffers every 2nd or 3rd day, so if their stomach is nicely rounded and healthy then it could be they are full. Plus give them some time to settle in :)
