Fish Crazy
One of my friends has a couple of these in his tank and they are stunning! I'm thinking about adding some to the 55 gallon tank that i'm setting up in my office at work. The main problem i have with this tank is that our water here is very hard. On my HOME tanks, i use 1/2 RO water to combat this problem and keep my fish (all who come from soft, acidic water) healthy and happy. I don't want to go through this trouble and expense on my work tank. It needs to be as low maintenance as possible. So here are my stats, let me know if you think dwarf neon rainbows will work:
55 gallons
moderately planted
ph 8.0
Already home to 7 male guppies
..and if so, how many and what male to female ratio?
One other question. How big do these get? My friend's are about three inches long, but most of the info i'm finding online says they only reach about TWO inches.
EDIT: Just spoke w/my friend and i think we may have gotten the species wrong. This is not my photo, but i'm pretty sure the fish pictured is the type of fish that he has (melanotaenia splendida or Eastern rainbowfish?)
