Can dwarf n pearl gouramies be keep together in a large tank ?

The rule I go with for peace in a tank is not to have two territorial species that share the same niche together. So I will have one surface territory gourami, not two. With Cichlids, in a large tank, one cave spawner and one open spawner. You want to lessen competition, because it is disease triggering stress, and sometimes, plain old murder.
I have never kept two gourami species together. They're too similar.
