I use to own 2 Dwarf Gouramis. They had a big tank to themselves but now I am wondering what types of fish can they be kept with? I am thinking about getting some more again but I would love to know what they can be put with.

Gouramis are a peacfull fish they can be put with fish smaller such as Guppys and Tetras.

I also have small red-tailed sharks in my tank to and they dont bother eachother in anyway.

The only thing I would say is dont put them in with cichilds. These fish (dont quote me on this) but are naturally aggressive. Thats what my store told me....not sure how true that is.

Just avoid aggressive fish. They can however be put with a wide range of fish, if you have a fish in mind post a topic about it and online users will be more than happy to offer their opinion?

i have them with neons, black neons, plack phantoms and silver tipped tetra, mainly avoid anything that will nip them like tiger barbs etc...

im sure some dwarf cichlids would be ok, like cockatoo or keyhole chiclids, heard they can be a bit agressive when breeding though, but if you have plenty of space and hiding spots it should be ok.

also think of the areas of the tanks that the fish like, you need fish like corys, plecs that reside at the bottom of the tank, they also do an excellent clean up job as well.

I have four dwarf gouramis, (one male) and they would chase each other and any other fish that I put in there (gentle community fish). I kept having this problem untill I read that they like to have plants that float on the water. I bought some and when I put the plants in the tank all agressive activity stopped! The gouramis are focused on the plants and no longer bother each other or any other fish.

I agree with Piperbella. Introduce the floating plants first so that there are not any issues when you add you new decided fish.

My dwarfs are in with corys, 2 swordtails, platies, a single mollie (just been given her because her bf died and her old owners were going to flush her cause she was useless in their words) 2 balloon mollies a couple of dwarf frogs and amano shrimps. They all seem to get on great thankfully but I do have floating plants and quite a few real plants.

Thankyou guys. I was asking because I plan on turning my 20 gallon into a community tank. Thankyou so much for all the fish you guys listed:)
