Hello, I'm new to the whole community tanks hobby and I'd like to keep mine going. I have a few gourami and one has developed a big white spot below the dorsal fin and i have no clue what it is doesn't look like what i've researched to ich but idk.

Can you post your latest water chemistry results, the dimensions of the aquarium, your maintenance routine, how long the aquarium has been running (and cycled)...and a photo or two of the fish that you are concerned about, please

It will assist in figuring out the problems easier :)

Thank you :)

It's a 30 gal. All levels are safe. This is ammonia and nitrite.

Is that a yellow light or have you got cloudy or tannin water cos the fish is really not clear enough to see the issue.

Have you actually cycled the aquarium? (It takes 6-8 weeks without fish and 10-14 weeks with fish)

Yes it's cycled and i think the tint is from the spinach i put in for the baby plecos i have in there just changed water day before yesterday he's staying by the back of the tank but the dorsal is bulged a little.

Okey dokey...basics needed here....

What are the dimensions (L x H x W) and useable water volume of your aquarium?
What is the full stocking of the aquarium?
What is your weekly mainetnance routine?
Please give can you go test the water, including hardness, Nitrites, Ammonia, Nitrates and pH, and post the results in numbers.

Try and get a much better/clearer photo of the fish if you can cos the yellow tint and cloudy look of the water is making any form of interpretation difficult.

My parameters are fine was just told by the person who set it up, he did a test and showed me what to look for and what is caution dangerous and everything in between. This just doesn't look like ich or anything i can look up. It's the silver white spot on his dorsal not normally that color.

I am sorry but we need to have the full information asked for.

The issues with the fish could be from water chemistry, illness, disease, inappropriate tankmates and more besides...a multitude of possibilities...so please a full rundown of the entire aquarium, the maintenance, the stocking and chemistry

Ammonia is .25 nitrite is 0 nitrate is around 10-15 ppm. Only has danios and other gouramis and they have never fought each other. I do water changes once a week with the exception of any emergency changes. Don't know what else you'd need as everything else was stated.

It's been running for only a few weeks with fish after being cycled without used seachem and monitored levels throughout everything seemed fine till today.

Tank size? Both volume and dimensions as some tanks are long and shallow while others are tall and narrow. Fish kept in tanks which are too small stresses them and makes them more susceptible to disease.

Decor - depending on the species, some fish need lots of decor to make them feel safe; other's like gouramis, need something over their heads eg floating plants, to feel safe.

How did you cycle the tank - did you add ammonia to grow the bacteria?

My brother set it up with used filters and such. Don't know the specifics but it's only this one fish and yes the decor is up to par with some azolla going in shortly after i figure this out.

Your ammonia must be absolute zero.

Can you give the pH of the water please as if it is wrong for the species of fish, it will cause health problems, along with your hardness....are you hard or soft water?

You mentioned the baby Pleco earlier...what type are they and how many?

It's a size 29 i believe it's taller than wide.
Can you find a tape measure and measure the length, width and height please

Danio's need a long aquarium as they are marathon swimmers, not sprinters. Gourami are surface labrynth breathers so they are not happy in deeper than average aquariums. Pleco's...BN are size limited and the others like a Common need vast aquariums since a Common can grow in excess of 12 inches
