I am a big fan of Dwarf Gouramis. I have had various types including neon, turquoise and flame gouramis. My general experience is that they do well for a month or two and then gradually become lethargic, stop eating, lose their colour and die. My other fish including other types of gouramis are very healthy.
My first dwarf was beautiful, lived over a year and was in perfect health when it accidentally got sucked into my filter inlet. I am still traumatized by the incident. Since then I have been purchasing a new dwarf every few months for the last 3 years because they always die. Maybe my tank has a Dwarf Gourami curse now.
I have purchased all of my fish in the Boston and Providence area.
I was wondering if this is a breeding issue or something to which Dwarf Gouramis are particularly susceptible.
Does anyone have any purchasing suggestions or other recommendations when it comes to Dwarf Gouramis. I'm tired of flushing these beautiful fish every few months.
thanks,
Lorne
