In addition to the dwarf powder blue gourami....

My dwarf flame gourami has been spending all its time in the plants which I know is common for them, however, he (even though I called him Betsy :p didn't know at the time!) has not really been eating and today is aving trouble staying upright when down on the bottom of the tank. I thought he was dead as he was almost laying on his side. He does go to the top of the tank under one of the filter (Emperor Biowheels) and stays there. His stomach looks a bit bloated, but no sign of protruding scales so I do not think it is dropsy nor swim bladder due to his lack of interest in eating. The fish comes up to me when I go over to the tank and hangs in front of me face up, tail hanging towards the bottom of the tank because he is so weak and I swear it is asking me for help. I know I know I am imagining this, but it looks so helpless and I feel so helpless!

I just checked the water parameters. The tank has been fishless cycled for about 2 weeks and the amonia rose to .5 last week and was at .25 and is now at .1 so the water changes have worked. The nitrites and nitrates are 0 and PH is 7.2, always has been.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

have you tryed cleaning the tank every two-three days oh and putting in a fish Antibiotic?

I have been doing daily 20% water changes and regular cleanings/vacuumings. I didn't want to just add an antibiotic to the tank without a diagnosis of the gourami's illness.

Thanks.
