Dwarf Cichlids

Hello,

I've read on various sites that German blue Rams, Kribensis and Blue Jack Demspeys do well in community tanks with Neons and Rummy nose Tetra.

Is this true?

I could relocate my Neons and Cardinals but the more aggressive rummy's and Angel fish would have to definitely stay.

Blue Jack Dempsey's are far from being dwarf, GBRs or Kribs should be okay in a community tank, not sure if they should go together though...

EBJD are definately not Dwarf or compatible with tetras. GBR and Kribs can be kept together aslong as each pair of cichlids has its own cave and the tank is relatively long

How about Keyhole Cichlids?

Keyholes are on the cusp IMHO, could be okay but might not be with neons

Keyholes will be fine with Neons and Rummynose Tetras. Its a very peaceful cichlid

I got keyholes with rummynose and they are fine. dont bother each other at all.

you could also try electric yellow or my personal favorite the powder blue cichlids if you wanna go down the lake victoria/malawi/tanganyika road.

I only have a 90ltr plus, they are far too aggressive to house with my other fish.

tbh elec yellows are one of the most community cichlids, apart from rams. powder blue and electric blue are also very calm. the same as yellow lab.

You really aught not advise people to mix lake cichlids with normal tropicals IMO.

wait? a 90l tank meaning a 20-25 gallon??? and you say theres angelfish in there allready? if so that is too small of a tank for such a fish that gets taller, as a 30 gallon is usually the minimum for angels!

anyways, stocking forsuch a tank i would suggest 1 male german blue ram, and about 2 females, with a smaller school of tetras (have to be small) and about 5-6 cory's (smaller ones as well such as pygmy cories)....just a suggestion!

@TheDoctor - I think you ought to sell on / give away the angel and get either a couple of rams (Bolivian being hardier of the lot) or some apisto
