i got a 20 gallon tank for Christmas and it has been cycling since. I have been thinking about adding some dwarf cichlids and i was wondering what would be the best one (other than the cockatoo) and what else i could add with them. The tank is planted with rocks and wood :good:

Ram's, Borelli's Apistogramma, Ummmm....... Kribeniss Cichlid's, i dont remeber the other kind's at the moment. But, kribensis will need the tank to themselves.

Apisto's, nannacara, rams and kribs are the most likely ones that you'll come across, most prefer heavily decorated bottom and to be kept as a pair, but research the exact species before you buy them.
A shoal of any small characin, such as tetras, pencilfish and hatchets, will look good and encourage your cichlids to be bolder.
The addition of a small algae eater such as a bristlenose would also be beneficial.
