Sorry about another thread but this is slightly different now.

What size air tube are you using for a flowrate of 3000lph?

Im using an 8mm airline with the valve about 75% open. does this sound way to much? if i shut it anymore te water level in the weir fluctuates up and down to much.

thanks
chris

No it does not.

I used 6mm air line in mine, the air valve is closer to open than closed, so 75% sounds about reet.

How is it running now??

Don't forget, the first few weeks ARE noisier until everything beds in.

not very well lol.

There is alot of air rushing down. Like i said i messed about with the pipework layout (found the bits in the shed) jointed it together with electrical tape so bits could be changed etc and it sounded abit better but wasn't to sure if there was to much air going down. still have a few more mods to do fo the newer pipe work just to try and relies some of the air. (probably wont work but if i get something in my head telling me it could work the i have to pre myself corrector wrong lol)

Ive even considered a dual standpipe and have came up with a plan using one pipe/hole with another inside it to save drilling another hole.

When i was getting ready to call it a night i noticed water on the floor. Couldn't work out where i was coming from so got a tail wiped it up but more water kept coming. Noticed i knock one of the ainti syphon pipes down the back and water was coming out. surprising how much water a little 4mm pipe can deliver.

Sorry about the story but i will probably have to leave the curing of the rock till i come back from holiday.

Don't forget once the pipework has a biofilm coating on the inside of it, it will stop a lot of that noise. Mine did the same in the first few weeks. The longer it has been set up, the quieter it seems to be.

in not to sure its to do with the durso or pipework. i think its more to do with the flow rate im trying to get from it. as its the air coming from the pipework thats making the waterfall sound. I'll try video tomorrow (if i get round to putting water in)

twin standpipe looks like the likely option. as i said i dont think the durso can take the flow. ive got to throttle back the pumps to around 3/4 on both pumps. ideally i want almost 100%.

originally i planned a normal tank with power heads and sump (got the durso virtually quiet running the eheim compact at 50%.)
