Everything was fine one minute and the next my dawarf Frog is missing his front leg. :/ he just has a stomp there now and it is covered with white cotton like stuff. I dunno if my other frog bit it off or if he got it cought on somehting..I haven't been able to find it either. He seems to be doing good. hes spending alot of up up in the plants off of the floor. :/ I last noticed it was gone .... 2 days ago I think.. I feel so bad for him... It is pissible it could be fungi , if it is how do I get rid of it and help him !?

Hi Darcie :)

Here's a link that might help you. Scroll down to where it talks about frogs that lose limbs and develop fungus at the site. It will also explain how much salt to add as treatment.

I will also look for information about any prepared medications that might help, but so far all the ones I've checked are not appropriate for use on frogs. This is something you can start right away at least.

Good luck. Please let us know how he does.

Will the salt not harn my other fish ?
Thanks for your help guys

Hi Darcie :)

It would probably be best to isolate him for treatment. Not only would this keep him safe while he is recovering, it would eliminate the possibility of spreading any harmful bacteria or fungus.

I keep my two ADFs in a one gallon jar and they are quite happy and safe by themselves. Any glass container will do as long as it has a lid. If you relocate him, you could keep him there and once he has recovered, add his little friend. Then you wouldn't have to worry about aggressive tank mates nipping on his fragile little limbs.
