Dumb question

Hi everyone this may sound dumb but i just want to check.When doing a water change and you dechlorinate the water do you add just the amount of dechlorinater to match the new amount of water you put in or the full amount of water the tank holds?It dont make it clear on the bottle instructions.

Yeah...it does not make it clear....I have been playing it safe and using the full 30 gallon doses...

Add the amount of dechlorinate for the amount of water you are adding as the water in the tank is already dechlorinate. So for example if it says 1ml for every 1 gallon and you put 4 gallons in the you add 4ml of dechlorinate.

BIGMAC, you only need to put in enough dechlorinator for the amount of water you are changing. the instructions on bottles of dechlorinator can be confusing though i agree!!

You should try not do that now you know as IMO too much of any chemical is bad, not to mention the cost!!

Hiya, its Aquadine. It says its totally safe and non toxic to fish and plants even if excessively used.

Only add the amount of dechlorinator that is right for the amount of water you are replacing AND add it to that water BEFORE you add the water to the tank. You don't add it to the entire tank.

I like to use Wardley's ChlorOut. It's very inexpensive and can be measured out by the drop per gallon instead of measuring so much for 5 or 10 gallons. If a product gives me those hugh measurements I don't buy it because I carry water from the kitchen to the tank in a 2 gallon pot.

Thanx Inchworm ,so i have been doing it right just wasnt sure.At least thats something i got right.....its so complicated this fish keeping lark but i love it,i get really confused with this water buissnes LOL
