Here is my 3 month old handfed (by me) Lutino Cockatiel named Duckie :p

Thanks everyone :D I haven't had her tested to see if she is REALLY a boy or a girl and I dont plan to. I will find out if she starts laying eggs. She just seems like a girl to me :p Thats why I tried to get a name that could go either way tho. It took me 5 days and I couldn't come up with ANYTHING. I asked my two year old daughter "what do you want to name the bird?" and she immediately came back with "DUCKIE!" So it stuck :D

Hi AmberC :)

I guess to a 2 year old, if it's yellow and a bird, it must be a duck!

That's a great story!

I'm pretty sure Duckie is a girl. :)

I had one years ago and she was the only girl in a cage with 10 males and the males were all darkish grey. All the females I've seen tend to be lighter and more yellowish in color. :)

The only way you can tell is by a blood test done by a vet. She is a Lutino cockatiel. Lutino is yellow. The grey ones are peid or just regular. All lutino cockatiels are yellow and white like her. ;)

there is another way a breeder taught me on my lutino
the females, once past the 6 month point will keep small grey bars under their tail feathers and the males apparently don't
my little "Spike" kept his bars, then started to lay eggs"
hehehe so we called her "Spice"
