Duck bill outlet alternatives?

I’m putting a new filter into my tank and have misplaced the duckbill part of the outlet pipe, what alternatives can I use instead? Do I actually need anything at the end of the pipe?

You may be able to find a PVC connector that will fit your outlet with a short piece of PVC pipe after that. Heat the pipe end with a heat gun, stove, or propane torch flame and compress in a vise when soft.

You could also cap the pipe and drill several holes to disperse the flow instead of heat-forming.

I have actually ordered a duck bill but in the mean time will the pipe be okay without a duck bill?

Yes, it will just have reduced velocity.

Nah all my fish are much bigger than the pipe
