Hi, not sure this is the right section :p
What do you think the best DSLR camera is? I have about £400 but cheaper would be better as always.
Thanks
Lloyd

My Canon 400D does a good job, I can link you to my flickr =D

I didnt have alot of spend either, and I think they do a newer 450D/500D now which are better specs for the near £400 I spent few years ago. Nikon also do decent quality lower end DLSRs too, Im sure someone here could advice you on one of those too.

I have a Canon 500D and for a long time before had a 350D, like the 450D above they are both very good cameras with not a lot of difference between the older and newer models, (tbh i rated the 350D above my new 500D in some areas)

If i were you i'd buy an older model like the 350D or 400D and then spend the rest on a couple of decent grade lenses

My Nikon D80 works fine for me but the D40 is as good with just a few less bells and whistles. Unless you know how to use those extras, the higher price for the fancier camera is a waste of money. For any true SLR, digital or otherwise, the main difference in performance almost always comes down to the lens quality, not the camera body. If I had a top line lens on a D40, it would be a better camera in most circumstances to a D80 with a medium quality lens.
I would suggest that you get a camera that has the features you know how to use and spend the money on the best lens you can afford.

I've use a D70s and have had a D50, and would highly recommend Nikon. oh, and definitely get a UV or Skylight filter for your lens. It's much easier to replace a £20 filter than a £200 lens, if it gets scratched. It might be worth checking out what you could pick up 2nd hand, the price drops quite a bit, and would leave you some £ left for a tripod, bag, polarizing filter, remote control, spare battery, etc...

D80 Nikon does it for me. Most DSLR's are good it's just fitting it to your budget.

Sometimes second hand with guarantee from a dealer can offer a better model for less cash! Be very wary of eBay on this though

Hi thanks for all the replies i still cant decide which one going to go and have a look in a few shops tomorrow
im looking at a sony or a nikon or a cannon.
Thanks
Lloyd
