Hello TFF!

I was just wondering if anyone here played the drums! I have been drumming for over 4 years now, and have collected a lot of tips/advice. If there are any new drummers I will be happy to answer any questions. I also know how to play the piano. :)

This can also be a musician thread. Is there anyone here that knows how to play any instrument? (And no the radio does not count. ;))

The only thing I know about drumming is Animal from the Muppets. Animal, Animal, Animal, Animal. ahhhhhhhhh :hyper:
stick hair on the emoticon and you have Animal.

If you want to hear a cool drum solo, listen to the long version of “Get Ready” by Rare Earth.

Always wanted to play the drums. My husband was a keyboard player in a popular local band for about 7 years (that's a lot of dull weekends from 8 pm to 2 am setting up, tearing down and even with a song selection of over 600 you felt like you heard the same songs all the time.) They even played the local Harrah's casino on New Years Eve. I played with them a couple of times (I play guitar), but it stressed me out too much. My husband retired after Harrah's because he had had 8 heart attacks and it was getting too hard to carry around all the keyboards, amps, pa heads etc. About all I could do to help is fold up all the cords (and boy are musicians picky about how their cords are folded up.) It's a tough life especially if you have a regular job on top of all that. Now all people want to go to is the stupid sports bars - whatever happened to live music?

Live music is the way that it should be enjoyed. Sad that people don't appreciate fine things anymore.
What’s funny is that when it all first started out, there where “live” drummers. Then drum machines where created (Machines that simply mimic drums). Then “live” drummers started mimicking the drum machines!

People these days just don’t have a fine taste in music. They would rather go buy a CD, than take lessons. (I know lessons take time and money out of your life, but trust me. They are worth it!) :)

Machines (think Skynet) have taken over everything. You and I don't even talk personally. We type short messages that cannot convey any sort of nuance or emotion or feeling. You don't know if I'm laughing and pulling your leg or insulting you unless I add the emoticon thingy. And that is a very sad state of affairs because I perceive you to be an intelligent young man with original thoughts. We live in an age of the "rise of the machine and the fall of man, the end of the human era". Henry the brewery foreman in "Strange Brew" said that. I had to add that because it fits.
And now I have to jump up on my soapbox about music. I loathe, hate and despise the factory music that is mass produced today to make money only. This business of rock, which really isn't , and country and rap and whatever that people just have to identify with to show their individuality is a pox on real good music. I'm a rocker claims the individualist in his Metallica T-shirt and Pantera hat. I'm a country boy claims the individualist in his Garth Brooks replica cowboy hat. There is no such thing as personal style anymore. Real musicians are not signed with Sony or MCA. Real musicians are in a garage in your neighborhood or in a seedy dive bar in a dangerous neighborhood. Please people ! Think for yourselves ! Stop letting commercial interests control your mind !
Okay, I'm alright now.

Do you play drum set or are you in a school/college/community concert/symphonic band? I play clarinet and I'm a drum major in my school band.

Sadly, no, I have no one to play with.

I also play on a drum kit, not just a snare. ;)

I smack my head against a brick wall sometimes, that's kinda like drumming :band:
