My dwarf gourami has had dropsy for several weeks, has had anti-bacterial treatment and also several days of anti-biotic bath immersions. The 'bubble' on his side has reduced, and his tentacles appear to be growing (they had become shortened), however, he is still very bloated.
He is in a tank of his own at present, and doesn't seem to be too distressed.
I don't know how long to continue with the treatment or whether to just put him back with the other fish. The main tank has a nitrate problem at the moment which we are trying to reduce. Or it is kinder to euthanase him
even though, as I say, he doesn't appear to be 'suffering'.
Any advice gratefully received ...
