I think one of my girls may have dropsy and although I've been doing some research online, I have never before dealt with this.
I've been watching my bettas very closely lately, since one of the girls had a dark bump on her nose (going away after a week of salt and meds). Today I noticed one was especially fat and she doesn't look pineconey like some pictures I've seen but her scales are slightly beginning to stick out. I don't think she's constipated, she's pooping right now and the color of it does not look off.
What should I do? I've got her in a 2.5 with salt. Tomorrow the Melafix I ordered is arriving in the mail. I know it's not the right thing for dropsy, but I don't think my LFS and petsmart carry anti-bacterial meds that I think would work. I doubt it would come in time to order them online. Tomorrow, when it comes, should I go ahead and use it? What concentration would be best?

Any ideas? Anyone? I've only lost bettas to jumping, never disease so I really really want to help her. Any ideas on temperature (heater at 78 degrees), salt concentration, ANYTHING? If it gets a lot worse, should I euthanize her?

I've only had experiece with a molly and dropsy - it's really hard on them.
Um...i think the medication was maracyn 2...it unfortunately didn't work for my fish and i had to euthanize her.

That's what I'm worried about, nothing working though I gather with dropsy that is often the case. It hurts me to look at her, I hope she is not in too much pain.
