Hi

wat are the signs of dropsy and wat can i do to cure it?

some info like what fish is affected, what it looks like and tank conditions would help a lot!

well i just wanna know if he has it or not.........is my sailfin molly who used to be so active chasing all the girl mollys and when i introduced my bolivian ram into my tank he started to get the same colouration as him(like stripes and stuff)(i dunno if that has to do with anything) he started to get real lazy and timid and just stays at the top and his stomach look bloted and he sorta looks like a baloon molly nwo. hes in a 30 gal and no nitrite,no nitrate,no amonia,ph is 6.5

Dropsy is a symptom. Of what... well... could be one of a hundred things. That's what's so insidious about it. :/ I've never had to attempt to treat it before... someone else would probably have better answers than I would there.

If you look down on the fish and its scales are sticking out like a pine cone then the fish has dropsy. But as endparenthesis said it is a symptom of something else, usually an internal infection that has caused a build up of fluid inside the fish. Here is a pic of a fish with dropsy from above . HTH :)

well he seems more active now......i dont think its dropsy
